these photos resonate with this message for me because they are from a general strike in oakland where i learned another world is possible. and after this message, i am so freaking happy to be alive it’s incredible.

from Aluna Joy Yaxkin’s facebook page:

I can’t believe it…. there are only 60 Days, until 12/21/2012!

We believe that the powerful dates leading up to the culmination of 2012 have profound associations with many ancient calendars and ancient cultures. We feel that 12/21/2012

is a global event; not just a Maya event. In 2011, Spirit called me to touch and re-touch many sacred sites in the world. We think this is a calling to finish the connecting process between sacred sites and the like-minded people that are called to this work. Many people are traveling this year. It is a grand migration of light workers. With the nearing of these end dates, we can also feel the coming shift on a cellular / soul level.

On the side of the conscious ones who have worked hard to stay awake, these times will offer more wisdom and enlightenment than ever before. The Star Elders say that Earth is like Disneyland and this special time is an E Ticket ride for the soul’s evolution! We will experience unconditional love, community and the awesome feeling of connectedness and oneness. Like-minded ones will be draw together like a moth to a violet flame. We will find in like mind community is where we will be most comfortable. We are surfing the eye of the coming storm while others may be lost in drama and chaos. Where each one of us will be called to travel to on the Earth’s grid, we will anchor peace, harmony and unity. We are already seeing this manifest.

On the un-conscious side of humanity, there will be more fear and global unrest. Human-based, survival issues will be rising up like ugly, old memories to stop and hinder their progress of growing into the light. This is catastro-phobia that is linked to ages past. Most of the middle-east, the holy lands and the Agean Sea area have sustained the most profound wounds in the past from the collapse of Atlantis. Many will assume from this fact that we may also see the most fear, disruption and social and political unrest in these areas again. This unrest is quite normal for past shifts of ages. The areas with the most history, power and energy are also the areas that can have the most upheaval. However, The Star Elders say this does not have to be the case this time around if we choose a different outcome. These wounds will be healed by light workers, the Earth, and the actual shift itself. We are already seeing this happening now.

It is my feeling that most of us will be surfing a wave between love and fear as we evolve beyond this world of duality and into oneness. We will be called in each moment to LET GO of fear, and choose LOVE over all outer appearances that may look scary and unsafe. When we feed LOVE, the universe is bound by natural law to give us more LOVE. It is a virus that we all hope to catch and never recover from. The Star Elders say it is a delicious infection. When we feed our Fear (which by the way is the 3D dualistic programing that loops over and over in our heads), the universe is bound by natural law to give us more fear. This is a virus that we all want to recover from at any price, because it imprisons us, binds our light and keep us from doing our best and brighter work in the world.

So do you want to be infected by LOVE or be festering in fear? Your choice. :) It always has been!

butterflyrevolt:

A young black man was killed by Oakland police.
The next day, the brother of the victim and his crew went out to the spot to do this as a memorial. They now do homages like this for black folks killed by pigs around Oakland.

As stated by Kash, member of the Turf Feinz crew, “in Oakland, dancing literally saves lives.”

This is an image of faith— this is the resilience that, deep in my heart, tells me we are going to win. Let’s rise, people.

This is amazing

Beats antique was superb last night. The energy between them and the crowd was magnificent.  And, right at the end, all the girls come out with booty shorts and start shaking their asses. Gotta say, they need to work on the upside-down ass clapping, but, DAMN CAN THEY SHAKE THEIR BOOTAYS!!

Occupy Oakland General Strike, a set on Flickr.
I went to Occupy Oakland on Wednesday. First, I attended a USF class at the #occupySF camp where we donated a container garden and taught a lesson on plant botany. Then we hoped the bay and marched from Frank Ogawa Plaza to the port. We paraded through the streets, singing songs and getting people on the streets to join the whole the way. I shouted “FUCK MONSANTO!!” so many times to reciprocate all the “FUCK MONSANTO!”s I was getting. I saw “nice day for a revolution” signs and enjoyed the drug of power, for we were climbing on trucks and crossing signals and gridlocking trucks and boats. Around 9, we decided to go back to the camp and have a meeting there at 10 and then return to the port at 3 to occupy for the next shift change. That meeting failed when they went to go get a mic system two blocks away and all the people dispersed. After a bit of wandering around, looking at the garden, and meeting the Vibe guy who was live streaming vibe from 14th and Broadway, we wandered around the corner from the plaza to 16th and san pablo where there was loud music and people dancing in a building. It was kickin, they played beyonce and kanye and the people were getting down. As I noticed helicopters circling, we decided to back to the end of the street so we could escape if the police came. there was a human mic check done to alert people that police were coming. Then, we realized there was a blockade to keep police from entering our occupied building. Then a fire was started from trash on the other end of the street while we were witnessing a scuffle by our barricade, which could have been people stopping someone from starting a fire (and by someone, I mean the “Black Bloc” anarchists) on our side. Police showed up shortly after we realized there was a fire, and then we heard five consecutive, loud bangs from down where the fire was. Flash bangs and tear gas. Then the anarchists started breaking the not-even-repaired-from-last-time Police startion windows and getting into more fights with people. Soon after they tear gassed our side. I was pretty far back and had time to get away. Then, my friends went up closer, and I took some photos of the standoff. I yelled, “Let’s all go home!” but I don’t think anybody heard me. Then the gassed us again, and I ran away, but it got me more that time, and after a searing and disorienting 15 seconds a medic squirted Milk of Magnesia in my eyes and I could open my eyes again. Thank god I had a vinegar soaked rag for my mouth! next time I’m bringing my goggles. After we recovered, we wandered around a little, got interviewed, and learned that the police weren’t going to raid the camp. However, we did see one woman with a bike and medic crosses taped on her shoulder grab her tent, through her shit on the ground, and book it out of there. That’s when we decided to leave.
